REPORT TOP OF STYRIA I BlitzGSCHEIT on p. 59
Ewald Fuchsbichler (later Seidl) was a construction manager for luxury ships, but had a lot of contact with Noriker horses on his grandfather's farm. His later wife Cornelia Seidl had already been auditing the balance sheets of large companies for years. In 2017, Cornelia's competition horse, the stallion Quattro, was plagued by a persistent throat ailment. Full of energy and determination, the two of them, together with veterinarians, created a natural throat comfort Liquid based on pharmacopoeia-quality herbs.
It made an impression, word spread quickly among horse owners, and it became sought after. An idea took shape: to found a company and market the throat comfort Liquid under the brand Ewalia (EWA(ld) and (Corne)LIA). "Veterinarians from near and far recommended the natural product, free from chemicals and preservatives", says Ewalia CEO Cornelia Seidl.
A whole range of feed supplements and care products quickly emerged, including treats, not only for horses but also for dogs. Ewalia products support the musculoskeletal system, nerves, hormones or the metabolism of the animals. In addition, a care line "NATUR PUR – For You and Me", for humans, was launched. Today, Ewalia's range already comprises 109 different items. "Ewalia products are distributed mainly through an online shop, but also via retailers, primarily in Austria and Germany. In addition, retailers in Hungary, the Netherlands and Lithuania supply Ewalia enthusiasts, and individual products have also made their way to the USA", confirms company head Seidl.
Horses remain the focus
Ewalia's groundbreaking success is owed above all to the consistently high pharmacopoeia-grade quality of the herbs used from all over the world.
In the quality manufactory, the products are made, packaged and shipped entirely in-house. The scientific validation, in turn, is carried out through studies together with the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna. And then there is the feel-good philosophy for Ewalia's now around 20 employees (with the number rising): "Everyone is on first-name terms, and every employee's strengths as well as weaknesses are taken into account", says Seidl. The couple themselves also own 14 equines: dressage, breeding, sport and livery horses. Cornelia herself trains three to four horses for competitions, and Ewalia also sponsors seven internationally successful dressage and show-jumping riders.
